The Cosmic Tarot See pictures of every single card in this deck.
This is a beautifully designed deck which, whilst broadly sticks to the traditional imagery, introduces some really lovely touches in terms of symbolic input to fire the imagination - for instance on the 8 of Pentacles, 8 pantacles surround a delicate pink rose……..reminding us of the necessity for protection and nourishment during periods of spiritual development and growth. My favourite card in this deck is that of the Hermit…..this portrays a man deep in meditation, sitting in a garden at night. At his feet the lamp of the mysteries shines bright, and is echoed by a six-pointed star in the night sky. Stars scatter from his hands, a lotus springs up beside him, and a small bird sits watching his contemplation nearby. The whole scene is, for me, an invocation of the spirit of the Hermit. Illustrations on the cards are sufficiently symbolic in nature that this deck could successfully be used as a beginner’s deck, especially if you are stimulated by visual imagery. Most of the cards clearly depict the deeper meanings of the card, as well as their surface interpretations. For this reason, they would also serve well as a meditational tool. Losche’s
understanding of the inner secrets of the Tarot is very clear….for instance
on One thing that makes me curious is the fact that, even though the designer uses Princes and Princesses, he chooses to have the major male in each suit remain a King. He also retains Judgement in favour of the Aeon, and the World in favour of the Universe. He also obviously has quite a sense of humour….most of the cards have people on them…and many of those people are likenesses of Hollywood film stars ;-) We had hours of fun trying to put names to the faces when we first saw this deck. Mind you, I have to say, the logic of the allocation of various stars seems symbolic of itself - Sean Connery plays the King of Wands for instance. The little guidebook supplied with the deck suffers from the usual problems of cramming a lot of info into a small format booklet, but does feature the designer’s own impression of each card, which is helpful, as well as keywords indicating the meaning of each card. There are seven sample spreads, one of which is a 7-carder I haven’t seen before.
I feel that this is an accessible and attractive deck, and I love the chuckles that come when you finally realise which card shows Errol Flynn!! Review by Jan.
YOUR REVIEWS: "An excellent deck for both beginners and advanced tarot students and one especially useful for self development, as they speak to you at very deep level. This is a deck that portays the essence of each astrological aspect with clarity and accessibility. I find the images convey the meaning without a need for the accompanying booklet - however, on a trip to The Green Buddha in Hove I came across a detailed book for this particular deck but have not been able to find another copy to purchase. Can you help.....?" nylazor, June 2003 Purchase the Cosmic Tarot Deck. See pictures of every single card in this deck. Back to Reviews. |
