Photo album

Postby Molluspin » 17 Jun 2015, 10:30

Hello,

A few weeks back I bought a tiny old photo album in a junk/antique shop, which I was planning on filling with photos of my children, to use as a Father's Day present. I thought it was empty, but when I got it out the other day, I found a small lock of blonde hair in it. I think the hair might be from a child because it's so light coloured, fine and soft. The album is very small - credit card sized, maybe the sort of thing you'd take travelling rather than keep at home. Now after finding the hair, I feel like maybe it was filled with pictures of a child who a parent had to be separated from for a while.

Anyway, I would like some advice on what to do with the lock of hair. I can't throw it away, but it seems weird just to keep a piece of hair from an unknown person somewhere in my house. Or should I keep it together with the album? Or am I just being silly and sentimental?

Any ideas or advice would be welcome :)

It's not silly and sentimental, it's thoughtful and caring.

If it were me, I'd build a ritual fire and send the hair back to it's owner, or if you feel burying it is best go that way. I'd simply find a way I'm comfortable with to return it to the unknown owner or even just send it out into the ethos to go where it's needed.

Hope that helps.

Thank you :). I like the idea of a fire best feels more like it's sending on on it's way, so I think I'll do that x

What you can do, is start writing.. like you write to the owner of the lock of hair..
whilst writing somehow the subconscious kicks in and will find an answer for you that works for you and owner ^-^

That is a nice idea too, thank you. I had a similar idea last night, I was comfortable with the idea of burning the hair but thought I would use tarot cards to ask, like you said to find out the best solution for the owner too. This is what I got:
Past: sun
Present: fortune
Fiture 6 swords
What to do: 9 swords
I think the other cards make sense for me, but don't understand the 9 swords for what to do? And I'm not good at blending the cards meanings together, so any help would be lovely :)

To me the 9 of swords says let go of your fear and trust your instinct. This hair is here for a reason, trust that you'll know what to do with it.

Ok, I went with my instincts. I liked the sound of burning the hair, so I did that. Wasn't sure how to make a tictisl fire, so I burned herbs from the garden that seemed like soothing, peaceful herbs (lavender and sage) and Rosemary because I thought it had something to do with remembering. I wished it peace and to go where it needed to be and scattered the ashes under my favourite tree. Felt very sad as I was doing it, but hopefully was the right thing.
Thank you got the help and suggestions Aoibhegreine and Seedling x

I'm glad we helped. It's always sad to let go but it's generally for the best.
