"Could you tell me which cards usually signify ill health? Thanks," Eileen

Jan replies:
Certain Swords, ie. Three, Five, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten; Certain Cups, ie. Five, Seven, Eight; Certain Disks, ie. Five and sometimes (though rarely) the Seven, plus the Tower, Death and the Hanged Man can indicate accidents and ill health.

If you take into account reversed meanings the following cards reversed may show a bout of illness: The Hermit, Lust (Strength), Art (Temperance), and the Sun.

However I must stress that the appearance of these cards (any of them) does not necessarily indicate illness - you would need a consecutive build-up to show onset and establishment of disease. In that event you would be looking for cards such as The Emperor, Empress, Lust, Sun, Ace of Wands, Two of Wands, Six of Wands, Eight of Wands, Two of Swords or Four of Swords to indicate gradual recovery.

The Eight of Disks has a habit of marking convalescing periods and, somewhat surprisingly, the Death card comes up more often than one might initially expect to indicate those times when somebody gets an "alarm call" which awakens them to poor habits with regard to their health, leading them to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
