White

White represents light - it's the closest representation colour wise to the presence of light. In some ways it's the opposite of black, in as much as it reveal all things, and makes all things visible. White (and it's higher analogue of silver) are considered to be the 'colour' of spirit - you'll find dazzling white light mentioned again and again in tales of spiritual experience and trancendence.

White represents purity, innocence and freshness of spirit, as well as cleanliness.

A lot of people use white light as a means of cleansing themselves - this is because it lifts you closer to spirit - the rate of vibration on the colour is very high, so it speeds body energy and heightens awareness. For this reason it shouldn't be used overly much around sick people who may find the speed of vibration too taxing on a system already drained and depleted.

I think people wear white for a lot of differnet reasons - there's the fact that white is used as a colour of mourning in India and China as an acknowledgement and celebration of the ascension of spirit. Then there's the 'clean' aspect to it....lab coats and soon. It indicates purity when worn as a wedding dress. and so on.
