The Throat Chakra

The throat centre is one of our major protective chakras. From here we are able to release streams of electric blue energy which infuses our auras. We use the Solar plexus and Throat centres for communication, both spoken and to direct gestures and facial expressions. Also, our maternal feelings come from here - everybody has maternal type feelings regardless of gender.

Its natural tone is blue - like a summer sky. Physically this centre controls the thyroid gland, the mouth and teeth, hearing (with the brow), and the upper respiratory tract.

The neck is the most vulnerable part of the human body, and the chakra seated within it is also quite vulnerable to disturbance. A surge of emotion working up the system from the Heart centred can have us feeling 'all choked up'. when we attempt to suppress an emotion it is with the Throat centre we do this, hence the fact that often when you try not to cry, your throat aches.

Strong surges of energy from the upper chakras can also cause problems here, as the Throat chakra battles to filter material coming in through the Crown and brow centres.

When this centre becomes blocked it's quite easy to shift it back into action again - we clear our throats or cough, and that is often sufficient to kickstart the Throat chakra.

In answer to more specific questions about jewellery and ties - so long as there's nothing tight against the throat, you won't affect the chakra. However wearing a gold scarf wrapped around the neck will stimulate flow somewhat. the position in which men usually wear ties is too low
